Inspiring Tomorrow's Visionaries Today

Credit given where credit is due

I am personally a strong believer in giving credit to those who deserve it. But in corporate life it is not uncommon others take the credits. Success has many fathers, as we say sometimes. This is an important leadership dilemma, I feel, where we need to balance integrity with the struggle for power and career.

Within the boardroom hush, we weigh our worth,
Half-lured by pride, half-drawn by gentler grace;
Shall we, in modest hush, let laurels berth
Upon the brows of those who share our space?

Soft voices urge that common truths be told,
That shared success will blossom all the more;
Yet cunning whispers bid us strike a bold,
Bright chord and claim the triumph at our door.

For only those who shine upon the stage
May catch the watchful eye of fortune’s gaze,
While humbler hearts, unpraised by written page,
Might slip in shadows through the longest days.

Still, in the soul a deeper music stirs:
True power grows where selfless vision spurs.
